Dr. Rita Maynard

Dr. Rita Maynard has been a licensed psychologist in the Portland area for over twenty-five years. As an experienced therapist, she has worked with individuals, couples, and families who displayed a wide variety of problems. Establishing a collaborative relationship of safety, compassion and trust, Dr. Maynard utilizes her expertise to meet the diverse needs of the client.
Her education includes a Doctorate degree from Pacific University. For over twenty years Dr. Maynard's specialty area has been working with couples' relationships. Having a working knowledge of many therapeutic orientations, she is able to apply the approach most suited to the clients situation. Her most extensive training has been with the Couples Institute of Menlo Park, California. Dr. Ellyn Bader, the co-founder of the Couples Institute, has been Dr. Maynard's mentor, colleague and friend. She has also assisted Drs. Bader and Pearson during five-day intensive couples retreats. She has given numerous public presentations. These include a teleseminar for the Couples Institute, couples workshops and most recently, Dr. Maynard has presented on a multidisciplinary panel at the Susan G. Komen Issues After Breast Cancer conference in Portland. As a volunteer in her community, Dr. Maynard has worked with the Clackamas Womens' Shelter and Greenhouse (a drop-in homeless shelter for teenagers). Most recently, she helped build a secondary school in Kenya with World Teacher Aid. |
